Rosy Cheeks

I have never truly been a fan of blush, I think its because I have always had very pink cheeks that I have never really seen the need for blush. Things change though and I have become addicted to this cheek duo of Max Factor blush in Mulberry and MAC mineralise skin finish in Adored. Another reason is that Autumn is upon us and while I gradually start to phase out bronzer I have gradually tried to phase in blush, to give my cheeks a lovely flush of colour. 

 I think this blush is really unique as it is not very pink it has more of a reddy tone to it, with a subtle hint of sparkle. It can be used as a contour shade and a subtle blush. It hasn't got the nicest packaging but its what is inside that counts (cheesy cliches with Harriet). As far as the MAC MSF goes it adds just the right amount sheen and shimmer to the top of your cheek bones, making the apples of your cheeks look fuller.

Italy Haul

So when we went to Italy I got a bit excited about Kiko and Sephora. Although having said that I am really proud of myself as I thought I was really restrained, because trust me I could have done way more damage. 

 From Rome I bought two Formula X nail polishes in Harmonics and Obsessive. You would not believe how long I have wanted to try one of these. There were so many beautiful colours that I would love to try, but I chose these two because I thought Harmonics looked a bit like Essie Splash of Grenadine which I have seen Estee of Essie Button wear and I always wonder what it is. I really love the formula of these they are long lasting plus they are so shiny, like a mean really shiny they actually make it look like you have gel nails. 

The next shop we went to was Kiko where I bought A Kiss Balm in the colour Apricot, it is so lovely and reminds me of the Revlon Lip Butters in the shade Tutti Frutti. I also bought a top coat because you know with nail varnish comes a top coat, I think thats all I can really say on that subject. 

The last thing I bought was a eyeliner in Royal Blue from Wjcon. I have seen a lot of people rocking blue eyeliner and I wanted to give it a go. I really like lining my water line with this as I think it makes my eyes look greener than usual.

Rose Garden

I have just got back from a lovely two weeks in Italy with my family, it was one of those holidays where all I wanted to do was lie by the pool with a good book and eat my entire body weight in pizza, pasta and ice cream. The hotel we stayed in was so stunning I couldn't resist taking outfit posts, also as these were taken early on in the holiday my legs aren't completely covered in bites as they were when I got home (dam you mosquitoes!) We stayed in a hotel called Castello Di Monterone which was a converted castle and was honestly the best hotel I have ever stayed in, and as for Italy I completely fell in love with it. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming I literally didn't want to come home. If you are ever thinking of going to Italy I highly recommend going to Perugia, it has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever been!

My dress is one I picked up in the sales in Miss Selfridge before we went away, I love the floaty layers on this dress that make it not just like your typical summer dress and all the colours in it there is a real mismatch of greens, blues, pinks, brown ect. 

I paired this with my Limited Collection M&S shoes, these shoes are so comfy! I have a real soft spot for M&S shoes as I think the quality is always great plus not many people think of M&S to buy shoes so you can avoid that awkward wearing the same shoes as someone else situation. They had this pair in pink as well and I really regret not picking them up!

I have kept my make up really simple and used this gorgeous Benefit mini set which my friend Ellie got me for my birthday, but seriously look at it isn't this just the sweetest thing. I think minis are such a good idea because you can try them out and if you like them you can them go on to buy the full size knowing that you definitely like the product.

Holiday Reads

So I love to read, I always have. I enjoy nothing more than curling up by the pool on holiday and reading a good book. I thought I would give a few of my recommendations on what I enjoy to read on holiday. 

The Girl You Left Behind JoJo Moyes 
This is by the amazing author of the book Me Before You, her books are so easy to get caught up by and warning they are real sleep disturbers! They are beautiful love stories that are a great pool time read. 

Plain Truth Jodie Picoult
This book is a mystery that literally kept me guessing to the last page, I have a real knack for guessing what happens (I think its all those crime dramas I watch!), I would really recommend it for an easy holiday read. It gives you an insight into the Amish life style and way of life and shows how life can change when two worlds come together. 

The Thread Victoria Hislop 
Yet another great author, her books are great as they usually jump between two time periods which keeps things really interesting. It is another love story (sensing a theme here!) it is quite a large book, but don't be put of by that I read in about a week and a half and I am not the quickest reader. 

The House of Silk Anthony Horowitz
This is a Sherlock Holmes book, that is wrote by Anthony Horowitz by permission of the Sherlock Holmes society. Sherlock doesn't really feature in the book as its main focus is John Watson, it follows him round as he tries to solve the mystery of Sherlock's death and the mysterious murders that are taking place. 

The Girls Lori Lansens
This story follows the life of two girls who happen to be Siamese twins, the books follows their life leading up to their birthday which may be their last, it give each one of the twins perspective and shows how different they are from each other. It is such a loely story and is sure to make you cry.

Dry Shampoo: the good, the bad and the volumising

I thought I would review three dry shampoos that could be found on the high street to see which ones I think are the best. 

Batiste Dry shampoo in Wild- Batiste is the hands down royalty of dry shampoo, its every where! I feel like I am going to drop a real clanger here when I say I don't like it... I have tried to get on with, but I really hate it. It leaves an awful white residue which is highly visible in my hair and makes it look grey. I think if I had light coloured hair it would be more discrete, but it just makes me look like a badger. One tip I found was to spray the dry shampoo in your hair the night before and then when you wake up it is all blended in, but lets face it although it works it kind of defeats the purpose of dry shampoo for me. The one redeeming feature is that it smells nice, but that doesn't really make up for the fact I don't like it. I rate it 3/10. 

Batiste Dry shampoo in Medium- This is a whole other story! The colour match for my hair is really good, and it manages to make my hair look fresh and clean when I haven't got time to wash it. The scent isn't quite as nice as the Wild one, but it doesn't small bad by any means. This is definitely the one to pick up if you have dark brunette hair. I rate it 9/10

Garnier Ultimate Blends, The Silky 7-in-1 dry shampoo- This dry shampoo needs no residue what so ever, I don't think it works best as a dry shampoo but more of a volumising spray. It also leaves your hair really smooth and soft, like a spray on conditioner. It has a lovely vanilla scent, which is good if you like vanilla maybe a bit over powering if you don't though. I rate it 7/10

Ciaté Dolls House collection

Last week I turned 17 which was really exciting, and my friend Louise bought me this really thoughtful present which I am really grateful for. 

The nail varnishes are really beautiful pastel shades and have a Porcelain finish that are semi matte yet have a bit of shine to them. The texture of them is quite chalky and powdery. I am sold on the formula of these as they have to be the quickest drying nail polishes I have ever used. 

The colours are:
Paper Doll- which is a pure white.
Poppet- which is a soft lilac.
Sweet Pea- which is a minty green. 
Doll Face- which is a peachy nude.
Baby Doll- which is a soft peach pink. 
My favourites are Poppet and Paper Doll, I think all the colours got together really well to make a ombre nail look or just one colour at a  time.

Seventeen phwoarr paint

Concealer is a staple product in my make up routine, I cannot go a day with out using it to mask all the pesky blemishes that decide to take up residence on my face, was that too much information if it was I'm sorry! So having blemishes to battle I am always on the look out for a concealer that has a high coverage yet does not cake or oxidise when it is on the skin. 

I really REALLY love this concealer, it state that it is supposed to be used as a "heavy duty under eye concealer" but I don't really think that is its best application, I think it is best used on blemishes as it goes on matte plus when powdered it doesn't budge! I like to use my Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush to apply it with as the tip is really small which allows accurate pin pointing and gives you a lot of control. I feel like you get a decent amount of product for the £5.49 you pay for it, and the packaging isn't really bulky meaning it doesn't take up too much room in my make up bag. 

Sorry it is so messy, it is well loved!

Sound good so far... Well there is one down side. The shade range is awful! There are only two shades Fair and Medium, the fair one suits me perfectly in the winter, but when my face gets more tanned it looks a bit to pinky and almost highlights my blemishes which isn't great. I am not the most tanned person so I feel that this concealer wouldn't really work for that many skin tones, but if it does suit your skin tone go for it you won't regret it!

Tanning Tools

So this post is for the people who do not tan or need a bit of help with the tanning process. Fake tanning can be one of the most unforgiving things ever, but if you follow a routine before you tan it can be really easy trust me. 

You need to exfoliate really well first, this remove all the dry skin and dead skin that the fake tan will cling to. I like to use this exfoliating glove from Soap and Glory as it is really easy to use and give you a lot of control where you exfoliate as other exfoliating products can be a bit messy. Area I would recommend exfoliating the most are your legs, ankles, arms, elbows and knees. 

Once you've done this you need something to nourish the areas you have exfoliated, I like the Fake Bake Skin Smoothie. I spray this on dry area like my knees, ankles and elbows immediately before I fake tan. It helps the fake tan to glide over these problem areas and leaves them with the perfect amount of tan on them. It is also a dry oil so it isn't greasy as other oils tend to be. It also has a really fresh tropical fragrance that takes away the smell that some fake tans tend to have. Now your ready to tan! I recommend using a tanning mitt so you don't end up with orange hands, because that is never really a good look!

One for the nail biters

So this post is for the nail biters among us, I will hold my hands up and say that I have been a nail biter from the grand age of 3. I try to resist it, but when I get stressed, nervous or sometimes bored the nail biting monster rears it's ugly head and before I know it I have no nails. 

I have always been on the look out for solutions and here are a few that work for me. 

Painting your nails

Go on give yourself a manicure, attempt some nail art. If I spend a lot of time and effort doing my nails the last thing I want to do is ruin them by biting my nails. I would recommend painting your nails with  a light maybe pastel coloured nail varnish as it is a bit more forgiving then a darker colour that will fully draw attention to the length of your nails.

Wear gloves while watching TV or when you could be bored 

As I said a lot of my nail biting stems from boredom especially when I am watching TV. So although it may look soft of you wear gloves it means you cannot get to your nails so they say intact 

Google nail biting 

Go on I dare you, this will seriously make you think before you put your nails into your mouth. You would be surprised of the horrors that lurk underneath your nails.

Buy some false nails
I would reserve this one for holidays or special occasions, if you get some false nails put on you wont be able to bite your nails. It might just help you get out of the habit.

Holiday Make Up look-Day time

My day time holiday/summer make up look is very minimal, and when I say minimal I mean minimal! I like to wear a fresh faced look during the day as it isn't high maintenance and I can focus on enjoying my holiday and not have to keep retouching my make up. I don't dare go fresh face, so wearing a bit of makeup helps boost my confidence. 

I used the Maybelline Great Lash mascara. It is not the most volumising mascara but it is really good at separating and lengthening the lashes while keeping them looking pretty natural. 
I then use Clarins Super Restorative tinted moisturiser. This provides a super sheer coverage and blurs over all your imperfections. It also has factor 20 in it to protect your skin. I also really like that it has a pump so you can easily control how much product comes out.
I cannot wear just tinted moisturiser on its own as I have a few blemishes that it just wont cover. So I used Seventeen Phwoarr paint, this stuff doesn't budge and is matte so it lasts all day. 
I then just powder using the old trusty Rimmel Stay Matte, you know the drill so my face stays where it should be.
I then put the Maybelline Peach Baby Lips on so my lips feel moisturised and still have a bit of shine to them. 

I also braided my hair to keep it off my face, and off my neck because you know when it gets hot people sweat and your neck is one of the places that gets the hottest so you don't want your hair sticking to it as that is horrible.

Holiday Make up look- Evening

I don't tend to wear much make up on holiday unless its in the evening so here is my favourite evening make up look. I have to admit this look is hugely inspired by the beautiful Tanya Burr, her make up is always flawless and she always looks stunning. I love her tutorials as they are quite easy to follow and she usually gives you high street products that you can substitute in for the high end ones. So if you are a bargin hunter like me I suggest you check them out.

 

I used my favourite foundation in my tanned colour, Bourjois Healthy Mix serum foundation in 52 Vanilla. It provides a medium coverage and has no SPF for pesky flash back in your holiday snaps. 

On my eyes I have the eye shadow called Honey Bronze from my Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette. I haven't spoken much about this palette before, but I think the colours provide a beautiful shimmery wash over the eye without them being too OTT. 

I then powder with my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, to make sure i'm not shiny and so my make up stays where I want it to. 

I then put on a few coats of L'Oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara.

On my lips I have the Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in shade 16, but this wasn't enough so I put a bit of Tanya Burr's Lip gloss in Picnic in the Park on top. These colours go together so well and really compliment each other.

Holiday skin care

Flying, the concept of it actually strikes fear in me. Not for the obvious reason, but because of air line limits! I have never been good as packing "lightly". I literally pack the kitchen sink and the fridge and who knows what else. This year will be different as I am using my clear make up bag as a measure, if it doesn't fit it need getting rid off. Harsh but it needs doing. So here are the skin care essentials, excluding sun cream. 

Moisturiser

Nice and Easy dual action oil free moisturiser. Having oily skin finding the right moisturiser can be a actual nightmare as they often break me out or sit on the skin forever and refuse to sink in. This sinks in quickly also it makes my skin feel all tingly. It's one of those moisturisers that when it sinks in your skin looks amazing and fresh. 

Cleanser 

Skin Clear Deep Cleanser. I cannot count on one hand how many bottles of this. I am obsessed! When I get near the end of a bottle I actually get a bit panicky that I need to get another one I also try to plan my day about passing a Boots to pick another one up. It helps with break outs and doesn't dry out my skin. 

Spot cream

Avon Skin Clear treatment. This is amazing for treating hormonal break outs, the only thing I will say is that it is very strong. So use it sparingly as it has caused my skin to dry up and flake a bit. It does work extremely well though, but it may not be the best for sensitive dry skin. 

Toner

Tea tree water Lush. I really like this toner I think you can see this by the horribly scratched label. It is very gentle and refreshing especially first think in the morning as it can completely wake up your skin. 

Eye make up remover 

Body Shop Chamomile eye make up remover. I have real issues with eye makeup remover, I must have quite sensitive eyes as even products that claim to be gentle cause my eyes to water horrendously. I love this product as I don't wake up in the morning and resemble as panda. It does have a very strong floral smell which takes a bit of getting use to, if you can over look it though it's a winner. 

Lip balm/ other 

Vaseline. I use this product as a lip balm, but my favourite use for it is on my eyelashes. Stay with me here, I use it as a conditioner for them. That sounds so strange but I have actually noticed that my eyelashes are thinker and longer. 

Scrub

Clinique 7 day scrub. This is cheating slightly as this is a miniature, but it is really gentle and is good at exfoliating, you know just what you want a scrub to do.

Pop of pink

Guess what this outfit is inspired by! if you guessed Wimbledon you'd be right. I have always loved watching tennis, (emphasis on the word WATCHING, as I must be the worst tennis player on this planet) The outfits always look amazing, there is just something I love about pristine white outfits, they always look stylish and elegant. Another thing associated with Wimbledon is strawberries and cream, so it only seemed fitting to pair the white with a pop of pink.

I got these shoes from Primark recently to go with a dress I recently bought, I really like the colour and surprisingly they go with a awful lot of my outfits despite the fact they are pink. They are quite comfy, but to make this a more practical look I would probably wear my converse with it. 

I got this playsuit from Superdry, now I am always a bit sceptical with brands like Superdry as I don't like massive labels, I like the brands of my clothing to be discrete. Basically I don't want to walk around like a giant billboard. Having said that though I really like this playsuit as it is not obvious where it is from. The material is not too thin and not too thick so it covers without making you too hot. I think playsuits are so practical as you can throw them on and not have to think about what top goes with which shorts, as it makes the decision for you. I am going to Italy this summer and I think this will come in really handy as we visit the sights.

Flower Garden

Yesterday my blog turned 1 year old! Yay. So to mark this occasion I thought I would do another outfit post, but this time make it a bit more formal so it is appropriate for summer weddings, events, christenings and lots of other fun events that happen in the summer. 

I got his dress a few days ago from the Quiz concession in Debenhams, I have never really shopped in Quiz before, I know a lot of girls got their prom dresses from there so I always thought that it would be full of long chiffon dresses and diamante, but I was wrong. I love this dress as it kind of reminds me of something a old fashioned milk maid would wear, I don't really know why, I think it is the colour. The material is quite heavy so it hangs beautifully, and I also love the off the shoulder detail as it adds a bit of something something to it, with out it being inappropriate and low cut, because no one wants to see that!

I paired this with my nude shoes from Miss KG which I find quite difficult to walk in even though they aren't as high as my other heels. I think I need a bit of practise walking in them though so I don't look like I am trying to lay an egg!

I did a quick/messy up do that was inspired by Lily Melrose's summer up do blog post/ YouTube video and a video done by Estee in her YouTube channel Essie Button. I paired this with lashings of mascara and the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker gloss stick in Bashful, as I wanted to look fresh faced and not wear anything too heavy. As I didn't want anything that was too high maintenance or that needed a lot of retouching like red lipstick because if you are anything like me after wearing red lipstick for more than a few hours it always manages to get on my nose, I don't know how or why it just does.

Lazy Sunday

So I have now got a lot more free time on my hands to do things I want. I thought I would do a post on a few of my favourite books, TV shows, YouTube channels etc. As the British weather has been so lovely recently (lets hope it lasts!) I have been doing a lot of reading outside while enjoying the sun. While starting my A2's.

Books
The Island by Victoria Hislop
This book is so beautifully written, it is about a young girl who lives in England and knows that she has Greek relatives, but doesn't know anything about them. So she goes to Greece to discover her mums past and finds out that there is a leper colony called Spingalonga off where her mum used to live. She discovers all about her families history with the colony and thee stigma that leprosy had at the time. It sounds very serious, which it is but it is actually kind of a love story and it is quite easy to read.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
I am not that far into this book as I have only just started it but so far I am gripped with the story, it is about a young girl who's parents have died so she goes to live with her uncle and his family. She is picked on by one of her cousins who hits her and throws books at her head until one day she fights back and knocks him down, as her punishment she is sent to the red room where her father died. She faints and hallucinates that she sees his ghost. I am currently reading this for my English Literature A2, but I think it is one of those classics that still has some importance today.

I am actually obsessed with her channel she does review on products, make up looks, her daily routines and my personal favourites her brand focus videos. She really draws you in so you feel like you are watching a friend and so many of my purchases have been inspired by things she has reviewed. She is just one of those YouTubers that you watch and want everything she talks about.

Vlogs- Essie Button Vlogs
Okay I guess you can see kind of a them here! Anyway Essie has been vlogging nearly everyday in June, she calls it Vlune. I really enjoy at the end of the day sitting down to watch her Aslan and Reggie's adventures and what they have been doing that day. Basically I am just really nosey and enjoy seeing what other people do in the day.

Random- Matthew Santoro
Everyone will know one of those people who has loads of random facts that the just blurt out at the strangest of moments, well that it me! I just really like knowing weird things that other people may not know. Anyway if you are like me you will love this guy. My favourite video is his 10 freakiest coincidences in history watch it your mind will be blown I promise you!

TV/ films
Never Been Kissed
This film is just one of those classics that I can't stop watching, I genuinely watch it at least once a week with out fail! Drew Barrymore is so fantastic in it and it is just so funny and heart-warming at the same time.

Warm Bodies
I watched this with my friends on my best friends birthday, and it was really funny. Afterwards me and Eleanor were like we want Zombie Nicholas Hoult to be our boyfriend. That sounds really strange, but you just have to watch it.

Game of Thrones
Oh the old classic I started watching this after my friend Izzy told me I had to. It is not usually a programme I would go for because of the gore. It is so gripping and I look forward to it every Monday.

Celebration make up

So today I finally finished my AS level exams (whoop whoop!), and I decided to do a kind of celebratory make up look as I haven't been wearing any make up for the last 4 weeks while I have been on study leave. This is my go to "glamorous" look that I do when I need to look nice yet have not very much time, the most time consuming thing for me is my eye shadow as I take forever to blend it, so this is an eye shadow free look. So with this look the bold lips do all the talking (ha get it!). 

Face
L'Oreal Lumi Magique foundation in Rose Pearl. I have a love hate relationship with this foundation as some days I put it on and I am like "Why don't I use this all the time I love it", then on other days I will put it on and it wont sit right or it will go all patchy round my nose. I think the trick is to spend a bit more time buffing it into the skin to making sure it stays looking good, to do this I use my ever trusty Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I would say this foundation has a medium coverage, and is best left with as minimal powder on a possible so that the dewy finish isn't lost. 

L'Oreal The Touche Magique True Match concealer. I use this under my eyes and down the bridge of my nose to highlight and cover redness.

Sleek Face Form Palette in Light. I use this to contour and bronze up my face, so it gives the illusion that I have been  in the sun when actually I have been stuck inside revising. 

MAC mineralise skin finish in Adored. This is from the Tropical Taboo collection that MAC brought out last year, I use it for a highlight on the tops of my cheek bones so if you were going to duplicate this look any mineralise skin finish would do as MAC are bringing them out all the time. Another one I like is Soft and Gentle from MAC. 

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Peach Glow. I used this to set my make up so it stays in place. 

Eyes
L'Oreal Telescopic mascara. I am not too struck on this mascara I think its good, but its nothing like my favourite MAC extended play lash mascara. I thought it may be similar to it, but its not really (the search for a dupe continues).

Rimmel Scandal Eyes eye liner in Nude. This eye liner is so soft and works for an instant eye refresher when maybe you haven't had the best night sleep. I put it all over my bottom water line.

Avon Grey eyeliner. I use this to tight line my eyes to make my lashes look thicker. 

Lips
I used my favourite ever red which is RiRi Woo from MAC and it is a retro matte formula. I know this one was limited edition, but I have heard that it is very similar to Ruby Woo also by MAC. I also thought I would include a Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple just if you want a red lip that can be worn sheer, and has more of a shine to it.

Outfit post, One Direction concert

Well this is uncharted territory! I have never done an outfit post before. Mainly because I don't really see myself as fashionable or "stylish", but I thought that I would give it a go. This is the outfit I am wearing to go see One Direction! I am so excited. Now I know that they are not every ones cup of tea, but personally I love them, plus Five Seconds of Summer are opening for them and I have been obsessed with them since I first heard the song "heartbreak girl" about a year ago. I have been to see them before with my friends and I promised my little sister that I would take her next time they were doing a concert. 

I wanted something that would be kind of dressy yet comfy to travel in, so I am wearing my patterned trousers from Dorothy Perkins which are so soft I feel like I am wearing pyjamas! My top is from New Look and was originally £14.99 but when we got to the till it was £5 off, don't you just love it when that happens. Also as my converse are completely wrecked after me  having them for 5 years so I am wearing my new Superga trainers which are insanely white so I think I am going to have to dirty them up a bit. I really like Superga trainers as I have quite wide feet and my little toe can sometimes rub on the side of converse (which if you know what I mean if one of the most painful places to get blisters), but I don't have that problem with these as I feel that they are quite wide.

As for my hair and make up, I just french plaited my hair and did my make up the same as I did in this post. 

All of these items were purchased recently so they should still be in the shops. I think I may start doing a few more outfit posts, what do you think?

How to waterfall braid

I love learning new hair styles and trying them out on people. I have been seeing this hair style cropping up everywhere and I think it looks so beautiful! It is actually quite simple to do as well. It would be great for weddings, proms, parties, festivals and just about any event you can think off. It works best on second or third day hair as this gives the hair texture and helps keep the braid in place.

I have not yet mastered it on myself, so I have been doing this hair style on my little sister. 
First brush the hair through, I use a Tangle Teezer as it helps with knots. Then I sprayed it with Tony and Guy sea salt spray to add even more texture. 

Then starting at the temple start with three pieces of hair, then do a normal plait towards you until it is about an inch long ( this depends on how long your hair is, my sister has a lot of hair do if yours is shorter maybe do it a few centimetres long)

Then drop the piece of the far right, and from underneath pick up another strip of hair to replace the one you drop.

Add a small strip of hair to the piece on the far left and then do the plait as normal crossing the sections until the piece on the far left is on the far right. 

Then drop this and repeat the steps.

When you get the the bottom of the hair you can either plait it normally or go all the way across your head.

Baking for people who can't bake:Granola bars

Hello so as you can tell from the title of this post I will be attempting to do some baking, stress the word attempting. I have always loved the idea of being a good cook, but lets just say after various fails I just gave up on the idea. Having said that these Granola Bars are so easy to make I bet my dog could make them!

The ingredients you will need are:
225g of porridge oats
75g of black treacle
75g of soft brown sugar
2 table spoons of peanut butter

150g of butter
and a handful of what ever fruits or nuts you want to add, as I have an intense hatred of dead fruit I added brazil nuts and macadamia nuts.

1. First pre heat the oven to 180C Gas mark 5.
2. Then grease a baking tray with butter, just so they don't stick too much.
3. Melt the butter, sugar, treacle in a pan making sure you don't let the mixture boil or the sugar burn, I recommend a low heat for this!
4. Then stir in the oats and the fruit or nuts of  your choice.
5. The add the peanut butter.
6. Stir until it is all combined.
7. Press into a baking tray until it is at the desired thickness, I didn't cover my whole tray as I wanted them to be quite thick.
8. Then bake for 25 min.
9. Wait for them to cool and then cut them up into bars or squares or whatever shape your heart desires.
10. Enjoy!

Another great thing about this recipe is there is minimal washing up! See I really have thought about it.

Sleek au naturel palette

I am just going to hold my hands up and say that I Harriet am addicted to neutral eye shadows. I can't help it! It's like a comfort blanket, you know that you will look good in them and not end up walking out the house looking like a weird rainbow. I have tried experimenting with different colours, but I get as far as my front door the rush up stairs to take them off. So surprise surprise here is another neutral eye shadow review.... 

This is the Sleek i-Divine au naturel palette. It's just so beautiful! Now this palette retails at £7.99 which isn't bad considering that you get 12 eye shadows! What I will say is that pigmentation isn't that consistent across all of the eye shadows, but having said that I am yet to find a high street eye shadow palette that doesn't have at least one dud. All of the colours are wearable and last really well through the day. Trust me I was scrubbing my arm trying the get the swatches off. I also found that they didn't crease to badly, I saw the first signs of creasing at around 4 hours wear which isn't to bad as I have notoriously oily peepers! 

They are very buttery and smooth which makes them easy to blend. I think it would be really good for taking on holiday as it is thin and you have all the colours you need. You also don't have to think about which colours go well together as they all compliment each other. Something else which I like and think is quite rare from the high street is that this palette actually contains some decent mattes, which is always a bonus in my books. The packaging is not the best, I won't lie. It is like most sleek packaging it is matte black and shows up finger prints, dust and dirt. This is something that really irritates me, but for £7.99 I won't really complain. 

Over all its a good little palette. The colours are all stunning, but none of them really blew me away!
